Port Douglas accommodation is amongst the most sophisticated in Queensland. The hub of Port Douglas is MacCrossan St which has the beach at one end and the inlet and marina area at the other. Most accommodation is located within walking distance and MacCrossan St which has a wonderful village atmosphere with a multitude of restaurants, pubs, souvenir shops, boutiques, cafes and galleries lining its length. The atmosphere is tropical and lush vegetation and gardens are everywhere.
There is a range of Port Douglas accommodation properties right in the village area. The Outrigger hotels group lead the way with The Outrigger Heritage, Outrigger in the Village and Outrigger on the Inlet which overlooks both the shopping area and the Port Douglas Inlet. There are also other properties like The Meridien Resort apartments, Driftwood Mantaray, Freestyle apartments, Mantra Aqueous on Port, Martinique on Macrossan, Garrick House, Port Douglas Palm Villas, Club Tropical apartments and Villa San Michele.
The palm lined avenue leading into Port Douglas is home to a multitude of luxury resorts. Some of these are absolutely awesome and cater to most budgets but do trend towards the very top end of the market. Breakfree apartments include the very popular Portsea resort and also the Reef Club Resort. The Sheraton Mirage Resort and the new Sea Temple Port Douglas Resort both feature international standard golf courses to compliment there superb accommodation and facilities. Raddisson treetops resort and Rydges Reef resort are also very popular and Thala beach Lodge is one of the most popular honeymoon destinations in Queensland. Two brand new properties are The Oaks Lagoons at Port and The Sebel Reef House.
To the north of Port Douglas lies the Daintree rainforest which is world heritage listed. Here you will find a range of rainforest retreats which offer the most relaxing holidays imaginable. Silky Oaks Lodge lodge is world famous as is their Coconut beach Rainforest Lodge. They also operate the beautiful Ferntree Rainforest lodge in the area. There are also many tours and trips available in the Port Douglas area.
