Most of Townsville's holiday accommodation is situated around or along The Strand - a seaside foreshore, not surprising since it presents a magnificent view of the Port and Magnetic Island.
Along and around the Strand there are some top quality resorts, hotels and apartments. Aquarius On The Beach is the only beachfront, three and a half star, high rise hotel in Townsville. In the heart of the CBD lies several 4 star properties including Park Regis Anchorage - a Leisure Inn Hotel, Townsville Plaza Hotel, while others such as the Holiday Inn, are situated in the shopping district. 4kms from the town centre lies the Mercure Inn, set on 4.5 hectares of lush tropical gardens, the resort provides a base outside the city centre whilst still being near enough to enjoy. Resorts such as Seagulls Resort and Quest apartments are highly sort after due to their balance of quality, service and location. In Palmer St on the south side of Ross River is the restaurant precinct and a number of new hotels. Quest Apartments, The Ibis Hotel and several others are there to choose from.
