Brisbane’s Southbank parkland region has been redeveloped over the past two decades to provide a recreational paradise that is almost in the city center. Southbank is now the city’s center for entertainment, conventions, the arts, accommodation and riverfront dining. It is now connected to the Brisbane CBD by two new pedestrian bridges which make it so convenient as a place to stay or holiday.
Southbank is a hive of activities. Being on the riverfront, it is the ideal place to choose a restaurant or café and these are here in numbers. During city celebrations, Southbank becomes the center of these activities. Massive fireworks displays and the like are displayed from here. There is a massive lagoon style swimming pool so if you take the kids they can have a great time, day or night. The city’s exhibition center is located at Southbank and is used for conventions and trade shows. It is also the center for the arts with the Queensland Art gallery found here, right next door to the Queensland Museum. Just down the road is the Queensland Maritime Museum and all combine to create an area where the kids can be entertained for hours.
Southbank is now the accommodation center for Brisbane with many new hotels and apartment resorts being built here. Because it is so conveniently located within walking distance of the Brisbane CBD as well as Suncorp Stadium and the Gabba, Businessmen and sports lovers alike tend to choose to stay in Southbank accommodation.
If you are coming to Brisbane, then Southbank is one place you should visit.
