Where Should I Go For A Week In Australia?

Thinking of Travelling For A Week In Australia?

With so much to do and see in Australia, it’s easy to get a bit overwhelmed when planning your itinerary, even more so if you only have 7 days. Remember, you won’t be able to see everything in a week. We’ve reduced the search to the east coast to make sure you spend more time enjoying yourself, and less time stuck in an airport. This area has fabulous weather, is family friendly, and is one of our top destinations for holidays, all year round. So here goes, let’s see what has come up top trumps in our research.

A great city to use as a base for the start of your trip is Brisbane, with countless activities, a well-connected international airport, and stunning beaches, there really is something for everyone, from backpackers to families. The best area to stay in is the CBD, the heart of the city. There you will find hundreds of bars, cafés, art expositions, restaurants, parks, and everything you could possibly want from your trip. This is also a cool, fashionable area, if shopping is your thing, you’re in for a treat! Another great activity in Brisbane is a river cruise, you can enjoy a tasty dinner whilst floating down the city and get your bearings.

There are a lot of different types of accommodation in the city, but we always recommend looking for rentals in Brisbane with plenty of time to spare. Be it in the CBD or further down the gold coast. Finding your perfect accommodation will be relatively straightforward if you use a good search engine.

We’d recommend spending a few days in the city. This will give you time to spend at least one afternoon in the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. A trip to Australia wouldn’t be complete without a cuddle from a Koala, right? This sanctuary is home to over 70 species and is a great way to entertain the kids. They can get a souvenir photo with their furry friends, and with some other less furry creatures, like snakes and crocodiles (all at a safe distance, of course!)

Where Should I Go For A Week In Australia

Once you’ve got your teeth into Brisbane, hire a car and head to the rainforest, in the Gold Coast Hinterland. Just two hour’s drive from Brisbane is a jaw dropping, awe inspiring natural park, complete with waterfalls, a basalt cave, subtropical nature, and the most exotic wildlife you’ll ever see. Go for a long morning walk, a fun adventure for the whole family. You can even bring a picnic and eat surrounded by nature.

After tiring yourself out in the rainforest, head back towards Brisbane, but stop off at a very special destination. The Gold Coast!  Famous for its paradisiac beaches and laid-back vibes, this is the perfect spot to relax, recharge after your long walk, and forget about the daily grind back at home. Head to Burleigh heights and go straight to the beach. Now whilst you’re reading this at home (or maybe even at work!), picture a postcard of a beach, bare feet in the sand, crystal clear water, the sound of waves and a cocktail in your hand. That’s Burleigh Heads. We’d recommend staying a night here, to soak up the cool vibes of this place.

If Brisbane, rainforests, and paradisiac beaches still aren’t enough to convince you, don’t worry, we’re saving the best until last. From Brisbane, catch a flight to Bundaberg, with plenty of flights available, it won’t be difficult to find one that fits with your schedule. Does the name Bundaberg ring a bell? No surprise there, it’s home to the world-famous Great Barrier Reef. We’ve all seen documentaries and pictures of it but experiencing it in person really is a once in a lifetime experience. Get in the water, get diving, even if you’re not an experienced diver, it really doesn’t matter! Make friends with the turtles and marvel at the colours and beauty of nature. We’d recommend staying at Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort. An eco-conscious resort set in an unbeatable setting; you can’t go wrong. They also organise outings to see baby turtle hatchlings on the beach. It’s undoubtedly a bucket list experience.

Of course, this is a reduced list of destinations, due to the sheer size of Australia. If you follow this itinerary, you will have an unforgettable holiday in one of the most amazing countries of the world. With a mix of city life, nature, and relaxing beaches, you’ll be sure to find your perfect fit.
