Southport Activities

Southport has the most comprehensive list of holiday activities of any of the Gold Coast destinations. It is located on the Southport Broadwater towards the northern end of the Gold Coast and is situated just north of Surfers Paradise and Main Beach. The Broadwater is connected to the ocean via the Southport Seaway and it provides access to the Nerang River and the numerous canals of the Gold Coast. The Southport Broadwater provides a fantastic aquatic playground for boating, paragliding, dining cruises and fishing activities. Southport is also the commercial center of the whole Gold coast region.

The holiday accommodation in Southport is mostly close to the waterfront. Many new resorts and hotels are lined up along the Broadwater and have fantastic views of the activities that are operating below. On the Southport Spit you will find the fabulous Seaworld theme park with its aquatic displays and waterpark. The Seaworld Nara resort is part of the complex. The Sheraton Mirage resort is also located on the beachfront here together with a magnificent shopping plaza. Surfers like to travel to the Southport seaway entrance and paddle across the seaway to ride the break on the outer seawall. The seaway is also popular with divers and fishermen. At the southern end of the Southport Spit you will find a maze of marina’s and yacht clubs. This is the center of boating activities on the Gold Coast and tens of millions of dollars worth of private yachts and charter boats are moored here. These marina’s are also the home of the local trawler fleet and charter fishing fleet.

The Southport commercial center is a bustling business arena with every service you would expect to find in a modern city. There are magnificent shopping plaza, pedestrian malls and a great choice of dining options with plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from. The waterfront park provides a great location to relax.

Come to Southport on the Gold Coast and try out all the fantastic holiday activities.
